Work on experimental rockets (model making)
For ten years, in co-operation with the organization "Planete Sciences" (a delegation of the CNES, the "Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales), I have taken part in making experimental rockets. Having a size generally ranging between 1m and 2m tall, they can reach an altitude of about 2 km.
During a rocket flight, a set of measurements is carried out by onboard electronic cards. I developed some of these cards, which enabled me to work with various microcontrollers (8051, PIC) and microprocessor (80186).
In addition to the programming of these components in assembly code, I also developed applications in Delphi, C and C++ dedicated to the communication with the measurement cards and to the processing of received data.
Besides to the purely technical aspect, the conception of experimental rockets also developed my skills in team work. Each project requires indeed the collaboration of several members dealing with different fields: mechanics, electronics, data processing, research for sponsors…
In 2001, within the Planete Sciences framework, I was sent in Tunisia in order to make a technical visit of support, control and validation of several projects of experimental rockets.
